Sculpture/Ceramics
Course Definition:
Experience building three-dimensional sculptures with clay, paper, wire, and other media. Emphasis will be placed on the design elements; line, shape, texture, and color. Focus in ceramics will be on the hand building techniques; pinch, coil and slabs. Introduction to traditional and historical ceramic arts and sculptors will be incorporated into the studio experiences.
Course Fees: $25.00 Fees cover the cost of clay and other materials for the semester along with any tools. Students will supply their own clay/materials if they cannot meet the course fee in a timely manner.
Attendance:
This is a studio class requiring completion of projects using materials and tools in the room.
Student attendance is critical to the completion of quality work. Each student is expected to
arrange to make up time and work in the event of absences. The teacher will not remind students to make up missed work.
Grading:
Students will be graded for their use of studio time and the completion of assigned projects
which will demonstrate and document their learning and artistic development during the
semester. There are opportunities provided at all levels for students to complete Quality Work.
On-Line Gallery:
Student projects will be photographed digitally and loaded onto Artsonia.com this year for parents and other relatives to view at their leisure. All work is anonymous to the public, but parents will have an i.d. code to find their children’s works and to order custom keepsakes with this art personalizing those objects
